About Me...

“God doesn’t give you more than you can handle.” …but sometimes I think He’s got me mixed up with a cow in a field, somewhere!

I am the mother of 10 children…6 boys, no lamps (the boys break them all) and 4 girls. My husband and I are known to be certified insane. We know this to be a fact as he is a Clinical Psychologist. He has a Ph.D., or “sheep-skin”; I have a Br.A., or “sheep-dog”; it rounds them up and gathers them in.

As Hilary McRee Flanery, I write short stories and books to bare my soul because after 10 kids, God KNOWS I can’t bare my body.

My nom de plume, Long-Skirts, I use to sign my poetry. Why? Because I love “being a girl” and after 10 kids it’s a great way to hide one’s multitude of sins …varicose veins.

I also write a lot of poetry dealing with the crisis in the Catholic Church, e.g.,:

“It’s Catholic
Combat boots for me,
When fightin’
Modern theology!”

…so you see this mother DOES wear combat boots and I need Long-Skirts to cover them so none of them modernistic-type Bishops will recognize me. I be bad …but I pray for them.

My first love before writing, children or even the husband was acting.

I studied Theatre Arts in college at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. I have been in numerous community theatre productions over the last 20 years but my real claims to fame have been “Opening Nights” in leading roles on delivery tables throughout America’s Midwest where I have performed and produced 10 children. (ouch!)

I reside in Saint Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. with my husband, 10 children, termites and a large bottle of wine (see the picture above for proof)!

“Lo –children are a heritage from the Lord, and the fruit of the womb a reward …Blessed is the man whose desire is satisfied with them.” (Psalm 126) It’s a satisfied man, my husband is!

LOVE OF MY LIFE
Randy, my love, father of our two,
When we come together we fit like a shoe.
A shoe on a foot, just below the old shin.
And, hey, did I say, we're expectin' agin'?

Randy, my love, father of our four,
Your kind talk and love, I do so adore.
Love sweet as honey from the bee in the hive.
Love like its sting 'cause we're havin' number five!

Randy, my love, father of our five,
Let's hop in the car and go for a drive.
And on Blueberry Hill, let's neck just for kicks.
And, hey, did I say I just felt number six?

Randy, my love, father of our six,
Love of my life, together we mix,
Like a recipe written by God up in Heaven,
'Cause in the oven is cookin' number seven!

There's Brendan, Colleen and Blaise of our ten.
Kieran, Maura, Dylan, Aidan.
Bernadette, Devon, Christian, all keepers...
But just kiss me tonight and let's go to sleepers!

“That better be mud on your feet, boys!!”

"That better be mud on your feet, boys!!"

THE END!
